Fleece has a fuzzy texture to it and is known to have some issues when trying to screen print on it. In this video you will see that we placed an ironing station before print head #1. This iron will press down on the fleece in order to make the substrate more flat. Due to the nature of fleece being double-sided, fabric movement during printing is a real concern. Stock up on pallet adhesive and be generous when applying it to the platen. Also, be sure to reapply the adhesive more often.

A 200-325 mesh screen is recommended. Silkscreen inks are concentrated and should be diluted with a mineral spirit solvent in the range of 30% solvent to 70% ink by volume. Thinners can be supplied with the ink or purchased from a local supplier. After dilution, the ink should air dry in 3-5 minutes. The ink cures at 300f-400f in two to six minutes creating the permanent marking you are trying to achieve. Don’t worry about your part being able to take the heat either because most silicone parts can take 500 – 550f continuously. If your part melts then its not silicone and you are using the wrong ink!

Polypropelene is one of those materials that can be a little difficult to print on, especially on promotional polypropelene bags, but NOT with the RapidTag! The RapidTag makes it easy for operators to print on these bags. The secret to keeping steady flowing production is making sure that your pallets are heated/ warmed up at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This is important for having the ink adhere to the substrate quick enough to keep production going smoothly as presented in the video. You can check this by using a heat gun and point it at your pallets. In regards to the ink most customers use a curing additive with the ink in order to get a quicker and stronger bond to the fabric because most plastisol inks need about 325 degrees Fahrenheit in order to cure (which polypropylene cannot withstand). In our printing shop we try to stay away from the curing additive because it tends to dry up on our screens. In the video we used straight white plastisol with no additional additives because our flash cure systems only need a split second to cure the ink since the pallets are already hot.

The engineers at ASPE Inc made the perfect can cooler printing machine. The machine you see in this video will print on one side of a can cooler then flip the product 180 degrees in order to print on the other side. It also automatically takes off the can cooler. Pallet size is dependant on the material the can cooler is made out of. Usually the pallets are about 3.75 inches wide for a foam can cooler and about 3.5 inches for a neoprene can cooler.
