Built around the cap

A pallet that turns the cap under every head.

Swim cap pallets that rotate

Each cap sits on a swim cap pallet with a rotational mechanism, an outside support and a level. The pallet rotates the cap under each print head, and the head lifts clear so the pallet can turn.

Pallets for other cap sizes

The swim cap pallets are replaceable, so the same machine takes alternate cap sizes with a pallet change.

Electric print heads

Stroke length is set by an electric motor with front and rear stops, and the squeegee moves up and down on its own electric drive with precision stroke control. The screen lifts with the head.

Off-contact set for every stroke

Off-contact is adjusted precisely for every stroke individually, so each stroke prints at its own setting.

A flash cure after every color

Five flash cure units, one after each print head. Each is 7 by 7 inches, 2,000 W at 220 V and 9 A, with four high-density bulbs, a timer, and an adjustable distance between the bulbs and the cap.

Ink kept cool on the screen

An air knife blower keeps the ink on the screen cool while the machine runs.

Silicone swim cap screen printing

Silicone ink, in practice.

A 200 to 325 mesh screen is recommended. Finer mesh lays down a thinner deposit, so match the mesh to the detail in your artwork.

Silicone screen inks are concentrated and are thinned with a mineral spirit solvent, roughly 30 percent solvent to 70 percent ink by volume. Thinners can be supplied with the ink or purchased locally.

On the LP-5SwimCap every color is followed by its own flash cure unit before the cap moves on to the next head. The full cure happens afterwards, in the ASPE vertical silicone swim cap dryer.

The complete line

From blank cap to the box.

STEP 01

Print

Up to five colors on the LP-5SwimCap, with a flash cure after each color.

STEP 02

Load

Printed caps go onto the open-frame hangers of the ASPE vertical dryer, six to a rack, along its 54-inch loading bed.

STEP 03

Cure

Racks climb and descend through the heated column. Dwell is set from the touchscreen between two and three and a half minutes.

STEP 04

Take off

Powered jaws grip each cured cap and release it into the box. No hand unloading.

One dryer, several presses. Even at its slowest setting the dryer outruns any single cap press, so a shop can run three to six presses into one tower. See the silicone swim cap dryer →
Common questions

Silicone swim cap printing machine questions.

How many colors does the LP-5SwimCap print?

Up to five. Each of the five print heads is followed by its own flash cure unit.

How does it print on a curved swim cap?

The cap sits on a swim cap pallet with a rotational mechanism, an outside support and a level. The pallet rotates the cap under each print head, and the head lifts clear so the pallet can turn.

What print area and screen size does it take?

A 12 by 12 inch (305 by 305 mm) print area, with 10 by 14 inch (25.4 by 35.5 cm) screens.

Can it print other cap sizes?

Yes. The swim cap pallets are replaceable, so alternate cap sizes take a pallet change.

What mesh and ink mix should I use?

A 200 to 325 mesh screen, with silicone screen ink thinned roughly 30 percent mineral spirit solvent to 70 percent ink by volume.

How are the caps cured?

Each color gets a flash cure on the press. The full cure happens in the ASPE vertical silicone swim cap dryer, which holds 108 caps at once and runs 1,850 to 3,200 caps an hour.

What do the flash cure units draw?

Each unit is 7 by 7 inches, 2,000 W at 220 V and 9 A, with four high-density bulbs, a timer and an adjustable distance to the cap.
